I had the opportunity to head out to Simi Valley on Saturday to check out and photograph the EP Release party for the first release, titled “Plane Kids,” from a super talented group of guys in the band My Native Tongue. Though still just in highschool, the triplets in My Native Tongue are veterans of a couple of successful bands already, and have a very bright future ahead of them. The band is a quirky mix of rock with electronics, which speaks to the current success and popularity of bands like Twentyone Pilots and Walk the Moon. The event was a lot of fun, with food and drinks galore and games for in between bands, a really top notch event from a top notch young band.

Crash Kings Residency
The Crash Kings residency at The Satellite in Silverlake continues throughout June. I was able to make it to week two and snap some photos as well as getting some video coverage for a quick live music video to be released later. They are recording a live CD over the course of five weeks, so the sets are the best of the best. They are also recording different cover songs each week, and Feist’s “I Feel It All” was a fun choice for week2.
Make Music Pasadena 2015
I had the opportunity to hang out and photograph at Make Music Pasadena 2015 for High Voltage Magazine. Sir Sly was the best act of the day, but I was able to check out The Moth and The Flame, Dark Waves, and Kishi Bashi as well. Overall, it was a great all day, free festival with tons of great music and tons of friends hanging out.
Satellite Sky at The Viper Room
Was able to head to Viper Room and check out the Australian brother/sister duo for their CD release party for Verbicide Magazine on May 14, 2015 and had a great time. Super energy from Kim Kicks on drums and a great front man in Pete Kicks, playing guitar and singing. The high octane show was great to photograph, even with the notorious terrible lighting of The Viper Room.
